Christopher Carey

Writer / Director / Producer / Editor / Cinematographer / Assistant Director

Is there anything Christopher Carey can’t do? An inhabitant of downtown Atlanta, Georgia, Chris graduated with a BFA in Film and Television from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Currently hard at work in the world of podcasting and webhosting, VanCar.tv is his newest project: a unique website extravaganza giving independent bands exposure by hosting professionally photographed music videos and concert footage with the hope of helping bands build buzz before a concert or CD release. His long résumé includes camerawork for Season 6 of Nashville Star, and the Country Music Awards, as well as recently Directing and Producing a music video for Peasant, “We’re Good,” which was featured on Stereogum.com and MTVu. When asked about dreams of fame and fortune, mild-mannered Chris seemed almost bemused, “I’m not in it for the money,” He said. “wait, there’s money?”

avatar Michael Perkins

Writer / Director / Editor

When they held a gun to the head of Michael David Perkins, he said this:
- I am a film director
- I live in Baton Rouge
- I have a wife and child
- Labels are useful to a point
- Documentary and narrative forms are the same
- Reality and fabrication are present in all of art
- Production value is a trick of the eye
- Poetry? Is that what cinema is about?
- Unity is an important, perhaps the most important, artistic principle
- There is a beauty in decay
- Decay is a result of living in a world that is falling apart
- The poet must not avert his eyes
- This should go on my tombstone: He did not have what it took to live forever. Amen.
- Wait. Don’t I get a last request?

MB Michael Brown

Director Of Photography / Editor / Gaffer / Motion Graphics Designer

Hailing from the indie-music epicenter of Nashville, Tennessee, Michael Brown is a thinking-man’s filmmaker. His film résumé is every bit as comprehensive and diverse as his knowledge of cinematography and lighting, and his dedication to his craft is as strong as the ideas that drive him. Michael has been a Steadicam Operator for four years to date, and has shot several documentaries including “Ocean Invaders” for National Geographic, and “Water over the Dam”, which he Produced, Directed, and Shot. He has done Live Concert recordings for artists like Barry Gibb (of the Bee Gees), Ricky Skaggs, and Blake Shelton – a filmmaking skill that has undoubtedly come in handy when working on music videos with VANCAR and DON’T PANIC. In his spare time, Michael can be found kayaking, as well as testing his vertical-dexterity by rock climbing and spelunking in extreme conditions.

avatar Bo Staines

Director / Producer / Cinematographer / Editor / Graphic Designer

Bowen Staines hails from the frosty state of New Hampshire, where he fell into music and cinematography at a very early age, initially spurring the idea to create DON’T PANIC FILMS. In fact, it was his fondness for music that originally drew him to Iceland, where DON’T PANIC now resides and has established a high-level of interest amongst the musical community. When he isn’t filming at DON’T PANIC, Bowen’s spare time is dedicated to being a professional musician, as well as a sponsored skateboarder, a graphic designer, and a freelance photographer. His music has been featured in numerous independent films, he’s Produced, Directed, and Shot eleven full-length films, and he’s done work for National Geographic.

avatar Chris Clark

Cinematography / Director Of Photography / Still Photographer / Location Sound

On the completely opposite end of the spectrum, DON’T PANIC’s head cinematographer Chris Clark grew up a Southern gentleman in the sunny state of South Carolina, where his filmmaking talent and visual flair were a welcome addition to the team. Having rarely traveled outside of the US, Chris immediately jumped at the opportunity to bring DON’T PANIC overseas to Iceland, and found himself quickly falling in love with the country. His natural ability to learn camera equipment promptly, as well as his willingness to drop everything he’s doing to help out, has landed Chris numerous coveted positions working with cutting-edge equipment as a Director of Photography and still photographer. In his spare time, Chris enjoys Scuba diving and underwater cinematography, and will never turn down a good game of Pool.

Charlie Brown Charlie Brown

Graphic Designer / Promotions / Editor

Good grief! Andrew “Charlie Brown” McClelland hails from the great Capital of Washington, DC, where his attraction to filmmaking and editing spurred his coveted position as DON’T PANIC’s Assistant Director, Editor, and Graphic Designer. Having mastered the art of Narrative storytelling, Andrew is also the CEO and co-founder of the First Grade Dinosaurs, the film production company responsible for such films as “DRINK MORE BEER”, and its anticipated follow-up, “BEER RUN”, in which he also acted. Charlie Brown has a wide range of knowledge of systems that include the P2/HVX workflow, the CineAlta and VeriCam, and all DVX formats. In his spare time, Andrew does graphic design for DVD booklets and covers, enjoys webpage design and still photography, and will never turn down the opportunity to film skits and comedic Social Documentaries for the upcoming film “DRINK MORE BRENNIVIN.”

james James Garcia

Writer / Graphic novel Guru

Writing, reading and watching are the activities that make up my life. I am always writing some story, review or random thought. Always reading a new comic, novel or news story. And always watching a television show, movie or CNN. Each thing I read influences what I write and how I perceive what I watch. Everything I watch influences what I read or write. And all the things I write are influenced by the things I’ve read and watched. This symbiotic relationship of activities always keeps my imagination flowing and helps to make my world a more magical place.

avatar Joseph Volpe

Director of Photography / Assistant Camera / Revolutionary

In all probability, Joe Volpe’s face will most likely be silk-screened on t-shirts sometime over the course of the next fifteen years. Like the rest of the DPF crew, this revolutionary attended and graduated from the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design, where he received his B.F.A. in Film & Television, as well as being honored with a Nomination for Best Cinematographer. His work on numerous large-budget independent films has carved his Directing skills – as well as his camera work – out of stone. Joe is also a talented writer, dreaming up vast and imaginative Sci-fi story vessels, for which he can later exorcize his creativity as a filmmaker. When Joe is not scheming about worldly revolutions or writing bizarre ultramodern screenplays, you will most likely find him atop his BMX bike at the local park, traveling, or at the bookstore browsing through the Sci-fi section.
